March 16: CHP Host Bone Marrow Registry and Blood Drive

by ECT

Keith Meter, a California Highway Patrol Officer, was recently diagnosed with a bone marrow cancer called Myelodysplastics Syndrome (MDS). Keith is in need of a bone marrow transplant, and like 70% of all patients no one in his family was a match. Keith discovered he had this disease when he joined registry. You could be Keith’s cure!

Every 3 minutes, someone new is diagnosed with a life-threatening blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma. For many, a marrow or stem cell transplant is their only hope for a cure. What if it were you? Wouldn’t you hope someone would be your hero?

CHP will be hosting a bone marrow registry and blood drive at the CHP – Contra Costa Area office on March 16, 2016 from 8AM – 4PM.

They are located at 5001 Blum Road, Martinez, CA 94553.Be the Match will be conducting a Marrow Registry (for ages 18 to 44 year olds). Additionally, Blood Source will be accepting much needed blood donations (for ages 18 and up).
