Latest Warriors Parade Leads to Top-10 Ridership Day for BART

by ECT

Tuesday’s Golden State Warriors NBA Championship victory parade brought a huge crowd to downtown Oakland and many of those who wanted to be part of the celebration chose BART to get there.  BART carried 493,927 trips on the day of the parade.  That makes Tuesday the 7th highest day for ridership in the history of the BART system.

We want to thank our riders, employees, and all of Dub Nation for making it a successful and safe day.

Tuesday’s number was down by 24,816 trips or less than 5% from last year’s parade.  Compared to the previous Tuesday, ridership was up by more than 16% with 69,822 additional trips.

Warriors fans flocked to our 12th and 19th Street Stations in downtown Oakland along the parade route.  Despite the change in this year’s route and no official post-parade rally, Lake Merritt was still very busy.

Oakland Station Data:

  • 12th Street had 32,889 entries and 34,821 exits
  • 19th Street had 27,651 entries and 31,477 exits
  • Lake Merritt had 15,000 entries and 15,349 exits

Three of BART’s highest ridership days in its more than 45-year history have been Warriors parades.  We hope the Warriors give the Bay Area even more opportunities to celebrate championships in the seasons ahead.
