At 9:57 am Sunday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a solo bicycle accident on Byron Highway near Delta Road in Knightsen.
Upon arrival, Engine 59 located a female cyclist down on the ground and in the roadway. After a patient assessment, it was determined that the female patient was to be airlifted to a local hospital due to possible internal injuries and she was unconscious after the fall.
According to Battalion Chief Jeff Burris, the cause of the crash was a possible medical issue.
No further details were released.
