June 9-10: East Contra Costa Events and More

by ECT

With graduation celebrations happening across East Contra Costa this weekend, the community events are pretty light, but there is one treat worth checking out in Justin Heer who is performing at La Grande Event Center in Oakley.

Here is raising money to fund his first album.

You can spend your Sunday listening to great music and supporting an up and coming artist in your community! At the La Grande Event center In Oakley, Dustin Heer will be performing from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm with an afterglow from 5:15 to 6:30. The opening acts will feature Margaret Niles and Dave “Ouzo” Land.

Tickets are $25 before the show and $30 at the door. There will be a silent auction, a door auction, and Dustin Trivia during the afterglow after the performance.

Dustin has been performing for cruise lines for years and is working on producing an album. This event’s proceeds go toward his album production and the concert event itself. Dustin has been a man of music since he was little, singing with his mother and learning to play guitar, ukulele, and piano. His repertoire consists of an array of style, including modern pop, country, and even influence drawn from Celine Dion. Such raw talent and passion can only be experienced live and this is your opportunity!

A little further out…

Brentwood’s Concerts In the Park are starting once again June 15th at the city park. The featured artist for the kick-start to the summer is “Max Cruise,” a Pop/R&B/Rock fusion that is sure to get the community on their feet and feeling the music. “Max Cruise” is made up of Camden Doolittle on vocals, Pete Flores on vocals, Michael “Wayne” Feiock on lead guitar, Ken Haven on bass, and Gordon Allen on Keyboard. The five talented musicians fused together to create the band you all know and love today. They perform a diverse set of music from funk to classic rock. Something for everyone in your family to enjoy!

The park and frequent attendees recommend bringing lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics for you and your family to enjoy. If your child gets squirmy, there’s a park in the facility that allows you to enjoy the music still while your child plays. The event starts at 7 pm, but it is suggested to arrive a little early to find parking and the perfect spot to sit.

June 15: Nova at Campos Family Vineyards
Wine Down Fridays at Campos Family Vineyards are the perfect way to end the week and start the weekend. With food, drinks, and live music, what better way to kick the summer off with your family and friends? Next week, Friday the 15th, the live band NOVA, “The Bay’s hottest party band,” will be performing everything between covers of classic rock and today’s hits, all while you can sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy. NOVA’s members include Kyah Combs, Austin Combs, Tony Wilson, and Isaac Femmat. The quad specializes in getting the crowd up and moving, and wants you to feel like the real band is actually there.

The event is free, but they ask for reservations for counting purposes. You can also reserve picnic tables, but they are limited, so the venue recommends bringing lawn chairs and blankets. We hope to see you out for a fun and relaxing evening!
