Flood Advisory Issued as Heavy Rain Hits Contra Costa County

A flood advisory has been issued in East Contra Costa County through 7:15 pm Thursday.

Just after 3:00 pm, the National Weather Service issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Poor Drainage Areas for Western Alameda County in northern California,
Southwestern Contra Costa County in northern California.

* At 311 PM PST, local law enforcement reported heavy rain causing urban and small stream flooding in the East Bay. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
