PLEASANT HILL, Calif. — Five Contra Costa County schools were selected as 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond congratulated the Contra Costa County Schools along with 24 other schools throughout the state last week.
“Congratulations to the students, families, and educators that make up these outstanding, vibrant, and affirming school communities,” Thurmond said. “As we continue to recover from the pandemic, this award validates the hard work of educators across the state on behalf of our students. Their commitment to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all their students has helped transform the lives of students during extraordinary circumstances.”
This prestigious award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools that close achievement and opportunity gaps and where students achieve high learning standards. Schools receiving this special honor demonstrate an overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. These Contra Costa County schools are among the state’s highest performing schools based on all student scores, subgroup student scores, and graduation rates.
