First Transit Accepting Applications to Drive Tri Delta Transit Buses Free Paid Training

ANTIOCH, CA –  To address anticipated ridership increases, First Transit is accepting applications to join the next training class and become a Tri Delta Transit bus driver.

Applicants need not have commercial driving experience to apply, but must be able to learn quickly on how to control large vehicles and must be able to work well with the public. Here are the details:

  • Training wage is $10.50 per hour. Upon successful completion of training, wage increases to $15.41 per hour up to current top pay of $24.44 per hour after five years.
  • 9 paid holidays per year
  • Vacation-progressive based on years of service
  • Sick leave
  • Health benefits (80% single company contribution/75% family company contribution)
  • Life insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401k, Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Plan
  • Uniforms paid for by the company
  • Varying hours, days, routes and buses
  • Probationary period is 90 calendar days
  • All drivers are required to join the Teamsters Union Local 315

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass a pre-employment DOT physical
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid California drivers license
  • Three years driving experience
  • Clean driving history

The free paid training course consists of both classroom and behind-the-wheel and lasts approximately 3 to 3 ½ weeks.
