Firefighters Battle Vegetation Fire on Deer Valley Road in Brentwood

At 2:54 pm Monday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of smoke and flames coming from a field behind Heritage High School in the City of Brentwood.

While responding, the fire was determined to be along the 9200 block of Deer Valley Road. The fire was estimated to be 2-acres in size.

By 3:00 pm, the fire was estimated at nearly 4 acres with multiple structures were threatened. A second-alarm structure protection was dispatched. Meanwhile, law enforcement was requested to block off Deer Valley Road.

Crews were in structure protection mode until they had additional units to battle the vegetation fire. The fire was contained.

3:40 pm UPDATE
CALFIRE was reporting the vegetation fire was at approximently 30-acres.

Note – this is the second vegetation fire in East Contra Costa County Monday. At 11:41 am CONFIRE and CALFIRE battled a 39-acre vegetation fire in the 3900 block of Alta Vista Circle in the City of Pittsburg.
