Contra Costa County Fire Responding to Vegetation Fire in Pittsburg

At 11:41 am Monday, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and CALFIRE were dispatched to a report of a vegetation fire in the 3900 block of Alta Vista Circle in the City of Pittsburg.

While responding, a large column of smoke was report. Pittsburg Police was requested for traffic control.

11:52 UPDATE:
Battalion 8 is on scene reporting same burn area as last night, trying to make access.  Last night, the vegetation fire burned 11 acres. On Monday, the fire was reported at 4-acres with a moderate rate of spread. An additional alarm was requested for structure protection.

2:38 pm UPDATE
The Fire was held to 39 acres and have established a line around the fire and will work to extinguish all hot spots.


Air Quality Advisory

East Contra Costa County is also dealing with poor air quality as the Bay Area Air Quality Management District extended an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke in eastern Contra Costa County through Monday, July 18. This is due to the Marsh Fire in the Bay Point and City of Pittsburg area.
