East County Events: May 10 and Beyond


Here is a look at some of the local events within East Contra Costa County this weekend which has plenty to choose from. If your looking for a new home, we highly recommend attending the Kiper Homes Grand Opening in Discovery Bay. Other events include Peaches 6th Birthday Bash at the Antioch Animal Services on L. Street while there are two special plant sale events going on this morning.

We have also included events that are a little further out that we encourage you to keep on your radar.


Kiper Homes will be hosting its Grand Opening II today from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at its new location of Watersong– a beautiful collection of single story homes in The Lakes gated community in Discovery Bay. Cabana Dave’s food truck will be there to help with the celebration from 11:30-2:30.

Kiper Homes is also offering up to $20,000 in incentives on select homes this weekend in celebration of the Encore Opening! They will also be having a drawing for various prizes throughout the day.

Fitness Boot CampOneRevolution

Brownstone Gardens Bridal Boot Camp
Open to the public, this free event begins workouts on Saturdays from 8:00 to 9:00 am throughout the summer and into the fall. The series will be led by Mary and Brandon Collins, independent Beachbody Coaches. Participants need to bring a Yoga mat, towel, and water bottle.  Brownstone Gardens is located at 91 Brownstone Road in Oakley.

The farmers market will run on Saturdays between March 15 through November 22 between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm located at First Street between Oak and Chestnut.

Brentwood, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D – Oakley) invites locals to join him at the Brentwood Farmers Market from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 10th in the downtown area. Jim will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. to chat with constituents and provide informational brochures on state-related issues.

Peaches 6th Birthday Bash
From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the Antioch Animal Services will be hosting 6th Birthday Bash for Peaches. The event will have a variety of events to celebrate. There will be a Peaches Look-a-Like Contest, Face Painting, Photos with Peaches [if she’s in the mood], Gift Bags, Vendors with lots of Animal Info and don’t forget – there will be Birthday Cake! There will also be Raffle Tickets and Peaches T-Shirts available for Purchase.

Also, there will be SPECIAL ADOPTION RATES on Cats and Dogs thanks to the Friends of Animal Services! Plus, the Animal Shelter will be having FREE Pit Bull adoptions to QUALIFIED homes!

So be sure to dress up yourself, your kids, your dog or your cat like Peaches and enter the Look-a-Like Contest! Then join Peaches for some Birthday Cake!


  • 10:00am: The Animal Shelter Opens & Dog and Cat Adoptions begin with Special Birthday Rates!
  • 1:00pm: The Peaches Look-a-Like Contest – There will be three prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places!
  • 3:00pm: Peaches Birthday Cake – There will be plenty of cake for us humans and a special dog birthday cake made by our volunteers for Peaches!
  • 4pm: The Raffle Prizes will be announced!

In Celebration of Peaches’ Birthday, please consider bringing donations and supplies for the Animal Shelter so that we can better help the animals that are in our care. This event is FREE to the public!

DIG Annual-Perennial Plant Sale
The Delta Informal Gardeners will be hosting their Annual Plant sale from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on Wolf Ranch Road in Brentwood. You are encouraged to bring a cart or wagon to help make your plant shopping more enjoyable.

Antioch Riverview Garden Club Plant & Garden Art Sale
The Antioch Riverview Garden Club is having it’s annual plant sale at Prewett Family Park on Lone Tree Way, from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. There will also be books, crafts and other items. “Like” them on Facebook.


Liberty High Car Show

The event will be held at Liberty High School located 850 Oak Street in Brentwood from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. There is no entrance fee and proceeds will benefit the Liberty transition special education program and Liberty High School Auto Club.

Come out and support Squish by having your car washed with funds going to Quentin Rios. The event will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Les Schwab in Oakley.  Donations are also being accepted.

Formed in the late 1970s, the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra has established a presence throughout the county.  The orchestra is comprised of forty-five musicians ranging in age from 15 to 94 who are music teachers, accountants, students, electricians, mechanics, homemakers, lawyers, retirees, dentists, engineers and computer specialists. Primarily Contra Costa residents, their only remuneration is the stimulation and satisfaction of rehearsing and performing together.  In addition to the five-concert season at the Lesher Center, the orchestra nurtures its dedication to the community by providing affordable performances to the residents of East Contra Costa County.

Boats Wanted!!!!!

Boats are wanted for Saturday May 31 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm for the C.A.S.T. for Kids event designed to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing.

According to Bill Samuels, Department of Water Resources coordinator and Brannan Island event coordinator, the event to be a success they need boats to be volunteered.

For volunteers, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt and can write it off as an “in kind donation” and depending on one’s financial situation, they may be able to deduct gas, mileage, bridge toll and time.

The event is being sponsored by Assemblyman Jim Frazier.
