Marsh-Creek-Our-Town-BrentwoodMay 9: Getting to Know Marsh Creek from Top to Bottom Hike

Saturday, May 9, 2015
from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Marsh Creek Reservoir on Marsh Creek Road, Brentwood, CA 94513

Join us for a hike in an area of Marsh Creek normally closed off to the public.

Marsh Creek reservoir was built almost 60 years ago to help protect the surrounding areas from flooding.  Mercury washed down from the Mercury Mine off Morgan Territory road and that sediment lies in the Marsh Creek Reservoir. The Contra Costa Flood Control is working to contain the mercury issue and hopefully expand the reservoir for better flood control protection.  Right next door is the John Marsh House that is being repaired and restored by the Marsh Historic Trust.  East Bay Regional Park District is working to open up parts of the Marsh Creek State Park adjacent to the reservoir and Marsh House.  Meet representatives from all these agencies and enjoyed a very scenic and fairly easy walk.
