East Contra Costa Fire to Recognize Volunteer Firefighters in April

by ECT

On April 13, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District will host its Inaugural Volunteer Firefighter Recognition Ceremony in Knightsen.

This will become an annual event that will honor those who have helped build and serve the community and fire district. Currently, the Fire District is seeking help from the public in identifying all those who served as volunteer or paid on call (POC) firefighters over the years.  For those who may have information or old photographs of the District, contact Battalion Chief Ross Macumber via email at [email protected].

Although the fire district was formed by merging other districts together in 2002, East Contra Costa has had fire service for decades which include:

  • Eastern
  • Bethel Island Fire Department
  • Brentwood Fire Department
  • Byron Fire Department
  • East Diablo
  • Oakley Fire Department

A full chart of the history can be viewed at: https://www.eccfpd.org/eccfpd-historical-preservation-activities

More details on the event will be released closer to the event date which is scheduled for April 13 at 1923 Delta Road in Knightsen, CA.
