East Contra Costa Fire Response Times at 8:14 Minutes in August

The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District reported that in the month of August they had 623 service calls with an average response time of 7:51 minutes.

In the month of July, the District ran 635 calls with a response time of 8:40 minutes. In calendar year 2017, the District has an average response time of 8:02 minutes and in 2016 had a time of 8:03 minutes.

During the month of August, the District responded to 7 residential structure fires, 2 commercial structure fire, 5 vehicle fires, 0 large vehicle fires, and 4 vegetation fires and 10 exterior fires. The District also responded to 43 vehicle crashes with an additional 10 requiring rescue. They also had 2 vehicle vs. pedestrian calls, 5 motorcycle crashes, and 0 bicycle accident.

Due to call volume, the District had zero engines available 19-times which totaled 10:16 hours. During that time, 9 incidents were handled by CONFIRE and AMR.

According to the District, here is a breakdown of the Calls For Service by Station in the month of December:

  • Engine 52 (Brentwood) ran 38% of the calls for service rolling out of the station 292 times
  • Engine 53 (Oakley) ran 39% of the calls for service rolling out of the station 303 times..
  • Engine 59 (Discovery Bay) ran 16% of the calls for service rolling out of the station 127 times.
  • CALFIRE assisted in 1% of the calls for 11 rollouts.
  • Auto Aid assisted in 6% of the calls for 45 rollouts.
  • Mutual Aid received assisted in 0% of the calls for 0 rollouts.

Average Response Time by Service Area:

  • Marsh Creek – 13:39 Minutes (15 calls)
  • Bethel Island – 14:33 Minutes (30 calls)
  • Knightsen – 10:20 Minutes (23 calls)
  • Discovery Bay/Byron – 9:25 Minutes (83 calls)
  • Brentwood – 6:57 minutes (299 calls)
  • Oakley – 6:53 Minutes (189 calls)

In the month of August, the District received auto aid from Contra Costa Fire 45-times with them sending a total of 81 engines. Meanwhile the District sent CONFIRE auto aid 34-times for 46 engines.
