East Bay Heat Advisory Issued for Tuesday and Wednesday

by ECT

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for both Tuesday and Wednesday as weather is expected to provide some hot afternoon forecasts. The advisory comes on the heals of a Red Flag Warning across most of Northern California.

High temperatures over the next two days will be anywhere from 10-degrees to 20-degrees above normal. In the East Bay, temps will be between 99 degrees to 103 degrees.

These temperatures will result in heat impacts to those who are sensitive to heat and potentially to those who overexert themselves in the daytime heat.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat advisory is in effect from:

  • Tuesday: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

This will result in potential heat related illness such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

They remind the community that a “heat advisory” means that a period of hot temperatures are expected and that with hot temperatures, it will create a situation in which heat illness is possible. The public is encouraged to drink plenty of fluids and stay in an air-conditioned room and out of the sun. Be sure to check up on relatives and neighbors.

Tips:

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Stay in air conditioned rooms
  • Stay out of the sun
  • Check up on relatives and neighbors
  • don’t leave kids or pets in unattended vehicles
