On Sunday, the Delta Youth Soccer League announced it has cancelled its upcoming fall recreational season.
The league serves youths in East Contra Costa County which includes the City of Antioch, City of Brentwood, City of Oakley, City of Pittsburg and other areas.
The announcement comes after Contra Costa County has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases and the league said youth sports, and soccer in particular, have not yet made their way into the State or County pathway to re-opening. Without a timeline or further guidance from the State/County, it has become impossible for us to lay the groundwork and prepare for a soccer league this fall.
The league said Sunday they will begin processing refunds to those that have paid for the fall season and the process will be automatically–but could take up to two weeks and an additional 10 days to show up on your accounts.
The league also said once the state reopens, it will work to offer a recreational season. They are asking for feedback and the community to take a survey to assist them in both formats and timelines.
