Delta Conservancy Seeks Volunteers For Sherman Island Cleanup Day

Sherman Island, CA – Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) encourages community members to volunteer for the Delta Waterways Cleanup on Saturday, April 12th from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Sherman Island.

The event is co-sponsored by the Delta Conservancy, the Delta Protection Commission and the Sacramento Area Creeks Council.

Volunteers will help clean a 1.6 mile stretch of the Sacramento River along the north side of Sherman Island. Team leaders will provide you with instructions, garbage bags and advice to get you started. Please use the checklist below to ensure you’re prepared for creek conditions:

  • Your own drinking water
  • A bucket or re-usable shopping bag to collect trash
  • Comfortable, washable clothes
  • Long pants and long sleeves
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Gloves (work or gardening)
  • Shoes that can get wet and muddy
  • Grabbing tool or rake (optional)
