Contra Costa District Attorney

On Friday December 20th, District Attorney Mark A. Peterson announced the arrest of George Robert Lee III, a 44 year old resident of Danville, for possession of child pornography.  Lee’s arrest comes as a result of a joint investigation involving several law enforcement agencies in Contra Costa County.

In early November, the Pleasant Hill Police Department developed information indicating that a Contra Costa County resident was sharing child pornography on the internet.  After determining that the illegal activity was occurring at a residence in the City of Danville, they presented their investigative findings to the Investigations Bureau of the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

On December 17th, 2013, Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, San Ramon, Moraga, Martinez, and Danville Police Departments, were assisted by the San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in executing a search warrant in the 500 block of Saint George Rd in Danville. Evidence was recovered during the search of the residence resulting in Lee’s arrest. Lee was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, where he was later released on $40,000 bail.

On December 18th, 2013, the District Attorney’s Office formally charged Lee with felony possession of child pornography.  Lee will make his initial appearance in court sometime in early 2014. Lee faces a maximum sentence of 3 years in prison if convicted.

District Attorney Mark A. Peterson stated that “this office will aggressively prosecute anyone involved in the exploitation of child sexual abuse victims.”
