Coronavirus Hits California With First Confirmed Case in Orange County

by ECT

Santa Ana, CA – The OC Health Care Agency’s (HCA) Communicable Disease Control Division received confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) this evening that an Orange County, California case has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The case, a traveler from Wuhan, China, has been in contact with the HCA and was provided guidance in order to reduce exposure to the public while awaiting laboratory confirmation from the CDC. The individual has now been transported to a local hospital and is in isolation in good condition.

In consultation with the CDC and the California Department of Public Health, the HCA is following up directly with all individuals who have had close contact with the case and are at risk of infection.

  • The HCA will be monitoring any close contacts and assure that proper evaluation and care is provided if they become ill.
  • The CDC’s guidance indicates that people who have casual contact with a case (in the same grocery store or movie theater) are at minimal risk of developing infection.
  • There is no evidence that person-to-person transmission has occurred in Orange County.
  • The current risk of local transmission remains low.

No additional details about the case will be released at this time.

Editors Note

This is now the third case in the United States. The novel coronavirus had killed 56 people in China, with nearly 2,000 reported cases, according to Chinese officials.

You can not trust the news coming from China about the status of this virus. The CDC is reporting the virus most likely started in a “wet market” from the exposure to wild snakes for sale for consumption. What do you think the odds are that all three of the returning Chinese expats were in this wet market buying snakes to eat? Better odds buying a winning Power Ball ticket. The reports now are the whole country is in lock down for two weeks. All hospitals at ground zero for this virus are full with the government rapidly building quick structures to house the overflow. My guess is this country is in trouble with an epidemic with at least 2 million in the country effected. The world is responding as if this is a possible pandemic. From all the news in many countries I read about this virus I can only conclude it is easily transmitted. Your are being fooled to believe otherwise. Why else is the defense for this virus to stay home for two weeks with no travel, even to get food, an order from the Chinese government? While is this hospital immediately quarantining this person coming from Wuhan? What about all the passengers of this plane told to self monitor for temperature? The CDC will need at least a year to come up with a vaccine. In the meantime please do not go to work and limit your exposure to others if sick until this vaccine is ready.
