Contra Costa Waste Services Offers Free Christmas Tree Recycling Options

by ECT

Residents in multiple Contra Costa County Cities will have a couple of options of how to recycle their Christmas trees this year at no cost.

This applies to the following cities:

Per Contra Costa Waste Services, a Garaventa company, there are 2 easy ways to recycle your Christmas tree. Please remove all tinsel, flocking, ornaments & tree stand.

1. At the Curb:

Please place your Christmas tree at the curb, on your yard waste day and we will pick it up for you at no additional charge. If your tree is 5 ft. or longer, please cut it into lengths of no longer than 3 ft. Our trucks cannot pick-up anything longer than 3 feet in length.

2. Take it to the Recycling Center & Transfer Station (RCTS) located at 1300 Loveridge Road in Pittsburg.

RCTS is open daily from 7 am to 6 pm (closed Christmas Day & New Year’s Day only). Christmas trees will be taken at no charge- limit one tree per vehicle.
