Contra Costa Sheriff Investigating Second Homicide on Highway 4 in Three Days

The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is investigating a homicide that occurred at the San Marco exit near Highway 4 Tuesday night where they have located bullet casings.

The Sheriffs Office confirmed Wednesday morning just before 7:00 am that the shooting is now a homicide investigation and a person has died.

The shooting occurred Tuesday night just before 10:30 pm where a vehicle was struck on the freeway with two victims arriving at John Muir Hospital with a vehicle with bullet holes and lots of blood.

No other information is currently available.

This is now the second homicide that has occurred in the same area within the last three days. On Saturday, 20-year-old Tomas Mendez of Pittsburg was killed which shut down traffic for several hours. That case is still under investigation.
