Delta Blitz, a major boating safety enforcement operation, will take place in the delta this Sunday, May 27, 2018. The multi-agency operation is intended to promote safe boating through education and strict enforcement on the waterways.
Local, state, and federal agencies will be taking part in Delta Blitz. They include: Contra Costa County, Solano County, Sacramento County, San Joaquin County, Pittsburg PD, Suisun PD, Redwood City PD, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California Division of Boating and Waterways, and U.S. Coast Guard.
The Memorial Day holiday weekend traditionally marks the start of boating season on the Delta. Significant numbers of boaters are expected to be on the water this summer, especially on the weekends, to go fishing, boating or take part in other recreational activities, like water-skiing.
