Contra Costa Health Reports 4,460 Coronavirus Cases, 101 New Cases

1

On Friday, the Contra Costa Health Services announced there are now 4,460 cases of coronavirus resulting in 88 Deaths. In the past 24-hours, this is 101 new cases.

The county reported that 3,105 people have recovered. The county says they have provided 91,719 tests and 68 people are currently in the hospital.

This week, the county announced it updated its mask policy where the order specifies that face coverings should be worn in businesses and in areas where people wait in line to enter businesses, and that everyone should wear a mask or face covering whenever they are within six feet of another person who is not a member of their household, except in very limited, industry-specific situations.

Last Thursday, Health officers from across the greater Bay Area say staying home this year is a healthy choice.

“Nobody wants to be cooped up, or to miss out on the holiday,” said Dr. Chris Farnitano, Contra Costa County Health Officer. “But the more we come together in groups, the more COVID-19 spreads in the community. And the more it spreads, the more it endangers older adults and others at high risk of serious illness.”
