Contra Costa County Public Works to Begin Construction of the Storm Damage Repair Projects in Martinez

Martinez, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works will begin construction of the Storm Damage Repair Project starting on Monday, August 2, 2021 through Tuesday, November 30, 2021, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work will occur between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Restrictions will be in place to minimize impacts to drivers during commute hours. Drivers should expect delays up to 15 minutes during construction. There are three (3) project locations:

  1. Alhambra Valley Road at Ferndale Road – Work includes construction of a soldier pile retaining wall, drainage improvements, guardrail and vegetation control, and reconstruction of the roadway. The site is approximately 0.35 miles east of the intersection of Alhambra Valley Road and Ferndale Road.
  2. Alhambra Valley Road west of Castro Ranch Road – Work includes remedial grading and reconstruction of the embankment, construction of guardrail and vegetation control, and reconstruction of the road shoulder. The site is approximately 500 feet west of the intersection of Pinole Valley Road and Castro Ranch Road.
  3. Bear Creek Road There are two (2) sites at this location- 3A and 3B. At site 3A, work includes construction of a soldier pile retaining wall, drainage improvements, guardrail and vegetation control, and reconstruction of the roadway. At site 3B, work includes remedial grading and reconstruction of the embankment, construction of guardrail and vegetation control, and reconstruction of the road shoulder. This site is approximately 1.3 miles south of the intersection of Bear Creek Road and Alhambra Valley Road.
