Contra Costa County Firefighters Endorse Paul Graves for District Attorney

by ECT

The Professional Firefighters of Contra Costa County, Local 1230 announced they have endorsed Paul Graves for Contra Costa County District Attorney.

Citing his experience, firefighters say Graves better understands the needs of the local community.

“When it comes to saving lives and protecting communities, we trust and value the experience that Paul Graves brings from his 22 years of distinguished service to our communities. Paul Graves understands the challenges and needs of Contra Costa.  He is a leader in public safety and a fighter for victims. The people of Contra Costa would be well-served having Paul Graves’ work ethic and dedication working 24/7 to keep them safe,” – Vince Wells, President, Professional Firefighters of Contra Costa County, Local 1230.

Graves said he was honored to be supported by firefighters and first responders.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Contra Costa’s firefighters and first responders who put their lives on the line every day for our residents and communities. Our campaign has now earned the support of all of Contra Costa’s public safety partners – police, sheriffs, firefighters and prosecutors – standing together for a safer Contra Costa County.  I look forward to June 5 when the voters will finally have their say,” said Graves.

Several endorsers provided quotes for my official candidate statement:

  • Child victims’ advocate Marc Klaas: “Paul Graves is the clear choice for protecting children. He brings decades of experience prosecuting human trafficking, sexual assault and child homicides.”
  • The Contra Costa District Attorneys’ Association: “Paul Graves is uniquely qualified and ready to lead, having supervised the Homicide and Family Violence units with distinction – two of the toughest units in the DA’s office.”

The Firefighter union leadership are not doing their homework – Graves was part of disgraced ex-DA Mark Peterson’s leadership team. He’s no reformer, he’s part of the old order. DA Diana Becton – an outsider – was appointed to the DA job to clean up the mess at the DA’s office, and she has been doing that, happily. She is professionalizing the office, and she’s taken steps to end the cronyism that was rampant in the Mark Peterson era. You won’t being seeing rich people or well connected people getting a pass if they break the law, something you saw when Peterson and Graves were running the office – justice is going to delivered in a fair and impartial manner under the leadership of Diana Becton. And you will see Becton prosecute those who commit white collar crimes or environmental crimes as well, which almost never happened in the Peterson-Graves era.
Because DA Becton is a reformer, most labor unions, like the Nurses union, the AFL-CIO Central Labor Council, the Building and Construction Trade Council, the Plumbers and Steamfitters, the SEUI local etc, etc. are all solidly supporting Diana Becton for DA. So are Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, Congressman Eric Swalwell, School Superintendent Tom Torlakson, State Senator Nancy Skinner, State Senator Bill Dodd – along with many other local elected officials. These leaders, clearly, know it’s a new day for Contra Costa County DA’s office with Diana Becton at the helm.

What dribble Ralph.

Benton, also known as the plagiarist, has no experience as a prosecutor. None. And that who you think is best suited for the job? Perhaps you simple mind forgot that Paul Graves announced his candidacy to run against his former superior Mark Peterson. You don’t because you’re that simple.

Sit down when grown folks is talking.
