Concord Police Identify Suspect in Shooting of 8-Year-Old

Concord, CA – On Friday March 25, 2016 at 5:50 pm, officers responded to the 2900 block of La Salle Avenue for the report of a shooting that had just occurred. While officers were responding, family members transported the victim, an eight year old boy, to John Muir Medical Center in Concord.

Officers arrived and found the victim had suffered a single life threatening gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to Children’s Hospital in Oakland and is currently in stable condition. This shooting does not appear to be gang related.

The Concord Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to investigate the shooting. Investigation subsequently identified 32 year old Concord resident James Jarrard as the suspect. There is currently $1.1 million warrant for his arrest related to the shooting. Jarrard’s whereabouts are currently unknown and he is considered armed and dangerous. Please do not approach or attempt to detain Jarrard and immediately call 911 if he is seen.

James Jarrard is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, shaved head, green eyes. Jarrard has numerous tattoos including a large tattoo on his neck. Jarrard is currently on parole for burglary.

This jack— also shot someone in the foot in concord or Antioch a few days before. Check into that CPD.
