Concord Police Announce Arrest in Fatal Shooting On Stanwell Dr.

Concord, CA — On Monday, July 27th, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Concord Police Department Officers responded to the parking lot of the 2300 block of Stanwell Dr. to a report of gunfire.

Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. Life-saving measure were immediately performed by first-responders, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced as deceased at the scene.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

UPDATE Murder Suspect Remains In Custody

On Monday, July 27th, just past 12:30 p.m., Concord Officers responded to a man shot in the parking lot of the 2300 block of Stanwell Dr. When first responders arrived on scene, first aid was provided, but sadly the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During their investigation, Officers quickly identified the suspect as Harminder Singh Aujla. The Concord Police Investigations Unit took over the case and obtained an arrest warrant for Aujla. Later that night, Detectives gathered further information about his whereabouts and located him at a hotel in Walnut Creek. He was taken into custody without incident.

Today, Detectives from our Major Crimes Unit presented the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office who filed charges for PC 187 (murder) and 12022.53(d) (sentence enhancement for killing a person with a gun) against Aujla. He remains in custody on $6 million bail.
