MARTINEZ, CA – Contra Costa Community College District (CCCCD) Governing Board president Timothy J. Farley submitted his resignation effective February 26, 2018, due to a pressing personal family matter.
In his letter, Farley said it was an honor to serve the students and families of Contra Costa County as well as the residents of Ward III. He was proud of the work the Governing Board had done to protect the interests of undocumented students, and the focus on student success.
“His personal experience as a Diablo Valley College graduate helped the District transform the lives of our students”, says chancellor Fred Wood. “I want to thank Mr. Farley for his service to the District.”
The Governing Board will hold a special meeting on Monday, March 12, 2018, beginning at 6:00 p.m., to discuss the options to fill the vacancy including a special election or making an appointment.
The Governing Board is made up of a student trustee, and 5 trustees elected by voters in 5 geographic divisions. Ward III includes Pacheco, and parts of Clayton, Concord, Martinez, Pittsburg, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek.
The Contra Costa Community College District (CCCCD) is one of the largest multi-college community college districts in California. The CCCCD serves a population of 1,019,640 people, and its boundaries encompass all but 48 of the 734-square-mile land area of Contra Costa County. The District is home to Contra Costa College in San Pablo, Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, as well as educational centers in Brentwood and San Ramon. The District headquarters is located in downtown Martinez.

Great news. Farley was an over reaching democrat trying desperately to make his way up the ladder. Better for everyone that his priorities had to change.
The less democrats holding office in California, the sooner we can get back to our former Golden State status.
