CHP Reports Two Fatal Crashes on Highway 4 on Wednesday

The California Highway Patrol reported two separate fatal crashes Wednesday on Highway 4. The first crash occurred around 3:51 pm which killed a 33-year-old male from Pinole while a crash several hours later at 8:12 pm killed a 53-year-old man from Pittsburg.

8:12 pm: SOLO FATALITY CRASH on HWY-4 THIS EVENING

This evening at about 8:12pm, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a solo vehicle crash on Hwy-4 eastbound, west of Alhambra Avenue. Upon emergency personnel and CHP arrival, it was determined that a solo Lexus sedan had been driven off the roadway to the south side of Hwy-4 and had overturned, ejecting the driver. The driver (53yr old male from Pittsburg and sole occupant) sustained major injuries and was transported to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek. Shortly after arriving to the hospital, he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office will be handling the release of his identity.

3:51 pm: SOLO FATALITY CRASH on HWY-4 THIS AFTERNOON

This afternoon at about 3:51pm, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a solo vehicle crash on Hwy-4 westbound, just east of Alhambra Avenue, off the roadway in Martinez. Upon emergency personnel and CHP arrival, it was determined that a solo 1999 Lexus 300 had been driven off the roadway into the shoulder area and collided with a tree, causing major damage. The driver (33yr old male from Pinole and sole occupant) sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office will be handling the release of his identity.
