CHP: Pedestrian Stuck and Killed on San Pablo Dam Road

The California Highway Patrol said a pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday on San Pablo Dam Road.

According to CHP, the incident occurred at approximately 6:10 pm in unincorporated Contra Costa County on San Pablo Dam Road, east of Clark Road. Upon CHP & emergency personnel arrival, a black Chrysler 300 remained on scene with the solo male driver (65yrs old from El Sobrante) and the male party that was struck (36yr old male from Richmond) was unresponsive.

The 36yr old male was transported to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek but unfortunately was pronounced deceased.

CHP’s preliminary investigation indicates the following; the male driver of Chrysler was traveling east on San Pablo Dam road. This area of roadway at Clark Road has limited lighting with no street lights. The male pedestrian was crossing San Pablo Dam Road on foot in a northerly direction, outside of a designated crosswalk, and directly ahead of the Chrysler. The driver was unable to see the pedestrian as he crossed in front of the Chrysler and subsequently struck him. The unresponsive male pedestrian was transported to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and pronounced deceased. The driver of the Chrysler remained on scene and was cooperative throughout the investigation.

At this time alcohol or drug impairment are not suspected but is still under investigation. If anyone witnessed this collision or the events leading up to it, call CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
