The California Highway Patrol says one person died in a vehicle crash in unincorporated Contra Costa County Monday night.
The crash occurred at 10:20 pm at Marsh Drive and Center Avenue in Pacheco, just west of Buchanan Field Airport.
According to preliminary information, a vehicle struck a parked semi-truck and was underneath the semi-truck. The name of the victim has not been released.
Fire crews were on scene for 5-hours and 27-minutes.

Last night at approximately 10:15pm, CHP Contra Costa responded to a vehicle vs. a parked vehicle collision on Marsh Drive, just south of Sally Ride Drive in Concord. Upon CHP & emergency personnel arrival, a gray 2011 Suzuki SX4 had crashed directly into a parked 2014 Freight-liner truck tractor with a trailer, causing major damage.
Tragically the solo male occupant (35yr old from Walnut Creek) was killed in the crash.
The Freight-liner was unoccupied and no other vehicles were involved. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office will be handling the release of identity of the deceased male driver.
Our preliminary investigation indicates the Suzuki was traveling northbound on Marsh Drive approaching the rear of the truck tractor trailer (parked along the east roadway curb edge) and veered to the right of the roadway, crashing the Suzuki head on into the rear of the trailer.
Witnesses and information from the scene indicate the Suzuki was possibly speeding over the posted speed limit prior the collision. Upon CHP and emergency personnel arrival, the solo male was still in the Suzuki and pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time it is unknown if alcohol or drug impairment were a factor in this collision but it is still under investigation. If any other witnesses saw this collision that haven’t spoken to CHP yet, call CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
