CHP Investigating Fatal Crash on Vasco Road and Walnut Blvd

At 5:51 am Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle crash at Vasco Road and Walnut Blvd in the Town of Byron.

At least 1 person has died and two people were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Two medical helicopters were requested but declined due to fog.

According to CHP, this is a fatality. No other information was readily available and the roadway is anticipated to be closed for the next several hours.

Two vehicle fatal collision on Vasco Road near Walnut Boulevard.

This morning (11/25/21) at around 5:52am, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a two vehicle collision on Vasco Road, south of Walnut Boulevard. A Ford F-350, with one occupant, was traveling northbound and a Toyota Corolla, with two occupants, was traveling southbound.

One of the vehicles crossed into the opposing lane and the two collided head on. The driver of the Ford suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the Toyota suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene and the passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. This collision is still under investigation.
