The June 5, 2018 Primary Election got into full swing Monday as nomination papers are available for candidates interested in running for office. The nomination period runs from February 12 through 5:00 pm Friday, March 9, 2018.
Papers for federal, state and county offices are available at the Contra Costa Elections office, 555 Escobar Street, Martinez. For a complete list of the state and county offices up for election in June, go to the department website www.cocovote.us.
“This is an important time for candidates to decide whether they want to proceed with a campaign,” said Joe Canciamilla, Contra Costa Registrar of Voters. “We look forward to having a good field of citizens, eager to serve their communities.”
If an incumbent elected official does not file to run for office by the March 9 deadline, there is a filing extension until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
The Contra Costa Elections Division is offering appointments to interested candidates on weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Documents for those with appointments will be prepared ahead of their appointment time.
