According to the fire district, Engine 59 arrived on scene to find a grass and fence fire with several people attempting to extinguish the fire. Upon further investigation, the Captain from Engine 59 found the fire had began burning in the attic and the walls.

ECCFPD-Byron-FireCrews quickly mobilized and knocked down the fire and limited damage to the roof, attic space, and exterior walls. The fence was destroyed. The estimated damage was $50,000.

According to the District, the tenant was burning garbage in the backyard when the wind shifted and caught weeds and the fence on fire.
