Byron: Man Airlifted by Medical Helicopter After Rollover Crash on Byron Highway

At 5:36 pm Tuesday, East Contra Costa firefighters responded to Byron Highway near Hope Way in Byron for a report of a vehicle rollover crash.

Upon arrival, Engine 59 arrived on scene to a two vehicle crash with one vehicle in the roadway and a second vehicle 25-feet down an embankment.

According to Battalion Chief Jake Gonzalez, the driver of the vehicle self-extricated and was near the vehicle. The patient was placed in a rescue basket and crews performed a low angle rescue.

The patient was then transported by REACH3 to John Muir Medical Center for injuries to the head and chest area.

The crash is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and no further information was provided.

There are far too many stupid people on the roads of East County. It’s like all stupid people were assigned to live here. Every road in the area is a near death experience
