At 7:26 am, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle accident at Dainty Avenue and Griffith Lane where a vehicle hit a parked tow truck.
The accident blocked traffic in the eastbound direction according to Brentwood Police who stated that there were two injuries.
Upon arrival, Engine 52 immediately requested a medical helicopter for one patient and several minutes later requested a second medical helicopter as they were extricating a patient from the wreck.
According to a source, the accident may have been related to the morning glare from the sun which blinded the driver from seeing the parked tow truck.
Update 9:00 am
According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, one patient was airlifted by medical helicopter and one patient was transported by ground ambulance as both were suffering from “moderate” injuries. The District stated that the tow truck sustained minor damage while the vehicle was totaled.
The accident is under investigation by Brentwood Police.
