At around 7:30 am Saturday, three subjects reportedly committed a strong arm robbery at Safeway on Balfour in Brentwood before later being taken into custody in Antioch.

The subjects reportedly were giving an employee trouble when a man came to assist. The three subjects reportedly assaulted the man knocking him to the ground before fleeing the scene with merchandise. Brentwood police were in pursuit and lost the vehicle.

A short time later, an Antioch Police officer spotted the suspects pulling into Hudson Court in Antioch.

According to radio traffic, the officer took three subjects at gun point where one of the subjects reportedly ran away—the officer did not fire at the subject but kept the driver and one of the passengers in place.

Police set up a perimeter around the Hudson Court complex but were unable to locate the subject who reportedly had multiple warrants.

Upon searching the vehicle, Antioch and Brentwood Police located a loaded firearm and the stolen Safeway merchandise. Alcohol may have also played a factor in the incident.

According to police, a witness positively identified the two subjects in custody.

No further information was provided on scene. No information has been released by Brentwood PD and is considered preliminary since it was gathered on scene.
