At 7:03 pm Tuesday, a head-on traffic collision has shut down State Route 4 and Balfour as crews work an incident.
According to radio traffic, two cars were blocking the intersection and as many as three medical helicopters were requested. Responding units include East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, California Highway Patrol, AMR and multiple medical helicopters.
By 7:45 pm,. a SIGALERT was issued by CHP.
By 8:51 pm, all lanes were open, however, delays were on CA-4 and Westbound east of Balfour Rd
