Updated: Antioch Police Announce Arrest of Suspect in 2012 Killing of Military Veteran

The Antioch Police Department announced Tuesday morning that they made an arrest of a 25-year-old man who had been wanted on numerous charges since 2012, including murder.

Rudy-CuellarOn July 21, 2015, at approximately 5:50 am, Antioch Police Detectives served an arrest warrant in the 10 block of W. 17th Street in Antioch for Rudy Cuellar.

Rudy Cuellar has been wanted for numerous warrants since 2012 to include a $1,000,000.00 warrant for PC 187(Murder). Cuellar was arrested inside of the home and later transferred to the Martinez Detention Facility.

No further information regarding this arrest or the homicide investigation will be released at this time.

Update:

Antioch Police released information Tuesday afternoon that stated Cuellar is suspected of participating in a gang-related fatal shooting of a Marine Veteran which occurred on March 31, 2012 at 1:36 am outside Cruisers Saloon in the 1600 block of A Street.

Police say that a group of males who had been kicked out of the bar earlier in the night, returned with baseball bats specifically with the intention of starting a fight.

The fight started inside the bar and then moved just outside of the front door to the bar. One of the males, who had been kicked out earlier, pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot inside the bar.

Lizandro “Tony” Bertolazzi, a 38-year-old married father of four, was hit and died at the scene according to police.

Thank you Antioch Police for all of your hard work. Nice to see bad guys are caught even if it takes a few years. Hope he goes away for a very long time. God bless our military.
