The Brentwood Police Department and the Brentwood Union School District are investigating a suspicious activity that occurred after school where an Edna Hill Middle School Student was walking home and he was approached by a vehicle.

According to Kirsten Jobb, Principal, it was reported that yesterday after school when an Edna Hill Middle School student was walking home he was approached by a vehicle. The student reported that an adult male passenger got out of the vehicle and yelled, “Get in the car.” The student ran to a nearby preschool and called their parent.

Dana Eaton, Superintendent, stated Tuesday morning Brentwood Police were still working to determine if the incident was credible attempt or not and that no further details could be released at this time.

Dear Families,

As you are aware we work closely with the Brentwood Police Department to ensure the safety of students within our community. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with accurate information regarding a suspicious circumstance that was reported this morning:

It was reported that yesterday after school when an Edna Hill Middle School student was walking home he was approached by a vehicle. The student reported that an adult male passenger got out of the vehicle and yelled, “Get in the car.” The student ran to a nearby preschool and called their parent.

This suspicious circumstance was then reported to the Brentwood Police Department and they are continuing to follow-up with their investigation. We want to commend our student for doing the right thing by ignoring the stranger and seeking help. We wanted to share this information with you so that you can have a conversation with your child. While our student was not harmed and met up with their family without incident, it is a good time to once again remind your child about safety.

Please remind your students to get help from a trusted staff member, or go to the office if they ever feel uncomfortable on campus.   Children should be reminded to never talk to strangers….instead run away, and tell an adult. Whenever possible, have students walk with a group when going and coming to school.

Thank you so much for your support of our school and safety. As you know, Edna Hill Middle School students and staff should feel safe and secure knowing that we consistently hold their safety in the highest regard.

Sincerely,

Kirsten Jobb
Principal
