The Brentwood Police Department is currently accepting applications for the summer session of the Citizen’s Police Academy. Anyone 18 years of age or older who resides or works in Brentwood is eligible to apply.
Classes are held at the police department on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The summer session begins June 22, 2016 and runs for 11 weeks, with graduation on August 31, 2016.
The Citizen’s Police Academy has proven to be a very popular component of our community policing efforts. Participants will meet and interact with many members of the police department and will be exposed to many facets of law enforcement.
Each week will offer different topics related to day-to-day operations and an overview of the challenges and successes our law enforcement officers and support staff face as part of their duties. This experience is not limited to classroom lecture alone. Participants will be exposed to practical exercises and get a firsthand look at some of the equipment used by law enforcement.
Through the Citizen’s Police Academy, we hope to provide an environment that will help foster relationships between the police and community. At the conclusion of the summer session, it is our goal to provide all participants with a better understating of the role of law enforcement and foster partnerships that result in participants identifying problems and solutions to quality of life issues that face our community.
