Brentwood Hires Darin Gale as New Assistant City Manager

BRENTWOOD, CA – The City of Brentwood announced the hiring of Assistant City Manager, Mr. Darin Gale whom will start on January 31, 2022. He will oversee the economic development and public information office responsibilities in the City Manager’s Office.

Darin Gale brings 20 years of experience to the City of Brentwood having held a variety of public and private sector positions in community development, economic development, and public affairs. Mr. Gale most recently led the City of Sacramento’s inclusive business retention and expansion programs. During this time, Mr. Gale also oversaw the implementation of a $10 million small business forgivable loan program to assist 1400 small businesses impacted by the current pandemic.

Prior to Sacramento, Mr. Gale worked for the City of Yuba City for 10 years, serving in a variety of capacities, including serving as the City’s Deputy City Manager overseeing economic development, public affairs and key council initiatives. While leading Yuba City’s economic development effort, the City’s sales tax revenue grew by over 50% and the City was named as one of the “Top 10 Best-Performing Small Cities” in America, by the Milken Institute, due its economic development growth.

Mr. Gale received his undergraduate degree from Sacramento State in Economics and has a Master’s of Business Administration from the Lebow School of Business at Drexel University. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Senior Executives in the State and Local Government program.

Darin and his wife Kristin, who is a high school Chemistry and Forensics teacher, have been married for 20 years and have four children. When not working, you can find Darin spending time with his family and enjoying life in the outdoors playing golf, biking, swimming, photography, and watching his favorite sports team.

City Manager Tim Ogden said, “I’m excited to welcome Darin to the City of Brentwood, and so appreciate Police Chief Tom Hansen’s diligent efforts helping out in my office in the interim serving as the Acting Assistant City Manager.” Police Chief Hansen will resume his responsibilities in the Police Department in February
