At 6:23 pm Thursday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District was dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash in the area of Deer Valley Road south of Briones Valley Road in Brentwood.
Upon arrival, Engine 52 located a deceased victim in a vehicle with a power pole blocking the roadway.

FATALITY CRASH on DEER VALLEY ROAD
This evening at about 6:19pm, Contra Costa CHP was advised of a solo vehicle collision off the roadway at northbound Deer Valley Road, just south of Briones Valley Road, that had struck a light pole. Upon emergency personnel and CHP arrival, the 54yr old female driver from Discovery Bay had been ejected out of the vehicle and pronounced deceased. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroners Office will be handling the release of identity of the deceased party.
In the initial investigation, it appears that the solo female driver of the 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Deer Valley Road and drove off the roadway and struck a light pole. subsequently ejecting her from the vehicle. The female driver was immediately pronounced deceased upon emergency personal arrival. No other vehicles were involved.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs are a factor in this collision and it is still under investigation. If anyone witnessed this collision or the events leading up to it, please contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980. Thank you.
