At 2:17 pm Wednesday, firefighters responded to a report of a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 4 between Balfour Road and Sand Creek in Brentwood.
A medical helicopter was requested.
The incident shutdown the eastbound direction of Highway 4 per Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Engine 88. East Contra Costa Fire also responded for the medical helicopter landing spot at John Muir Hospital.
By 2:28 pm, CONFIRE reported the freeway is shutdown in the eastbound direction. 1 patient was suffering from major injuries while another patient was non-injury.
By 2:58 pm, CHP re-opened the roadway.

Need to get more CHP in the East Bay, I see crazy driving all day every day on the roadways, we need more CHO to crack down on negligent drivers!
