The Vacaville Police Department report that two Brentwood men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at gunpoint at a Vacaville liquor store.
According to police, Last Saturday, just after 10:00 pm, dispatch received a panicked call from a clerk at a local food and liquor store, saying they’d just been robbed at gunpoint by two men. They’d just left in a gray Honda Accord, but no one saw the license plate.
Police and dispatch worked on leads as they collected evidence and searched city cameras for possible vehicle matches after officers found two men had robbed the store at gunpoint, one with a handgun and the other with some type of long gun or rifle, and money was taken.
Police report that the clerks were clearly shaken up by the incident, but thankfully not physically harmed.
Dispatchers were able to discover the suspect vehicle and license plate and within a few hours, the same dispatcher was checked on any activity for the aforementioned vehicle, and observed current activity in a particular area of nearby Fairfield.
Fairfield Police were notified, and their officers went out and searched for the car, knowing full well it contained two suspects in a recent armed robbery involving a handgun and long gun. They found it, stopped it, and quickly and safely detained the occupants for us.
Vacaville police officers responded and noted the two men found in the vehicle were a match for the ones seen in the earlier robbery surveillance, and recovered the stolen cash, an unserialized polymer 80 Glock-style handgun, a short barreled rifle and narcotics packaged for sale.
Phillip Drake III (35, Brentwood) and Matties Williams (25, Brentwood) were both arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on various charges related to armed robbery, weapons violations, and narcotic sales.
No other information was released.
