Brentwood: Balfour Interchange Estimate Comes in $3 million Less Than Expected

by ECT

Mayor Bob Taylor announced Tuesday during the Brentwood City Council meeting that the Balfour Interchange Project came in under the engineers estimated bid.

During council reports, Taylor stated the following:

“I had the opportunity to open the bids for the Balfour Road Interchange Project. I’ve been working on this for quite a few years. First of all I got to work on the Caldecott Tunnel. We got that built,  then we started moving down Highway 4 and got the lanes done going through Pittsburg, then Somersville, Hillcrest and made it to Brentwood to Sand Creek,” explained Taylor. “In my wildest dreams there were people who were reluctant to give the Mayor any more money but in my perseverance, I charmed them and begged them and did everything I could. Our opening bid was $36.9 million. This was $3 million below the engineers report.”

Taylor says they are hoping to have a ribbon cutting and groundbreaking by early next year and that the Engineers report was $40.2 million according to city staff. The low bidder was $36.9 million.

“This has been a long time coming and this should eliminate that traffic jam and keeping people from going across Balfour at 80-to-90 mph,” said Taylor. “I am very excited about this.

The CCTA will still have to go through a process and approve the bid which should be completed by November.

Oh poor Bob and company. What to do with all that extra money. Build more houses? Seems to be their policy. It’s alllllllll about Brentwood. Don’t expect any refund folks

What a joke!

Can you believe this guy? NO one would give “the mayor” any money. Not for his hot dog stand and not to pay his mortgage. No wonder his home was foreclosed on. This was HIS quote, as usual and strangely in the “third person”.

How embarrassing for the people of Brentwood

I talked to a reporter once. She said Bob Taylor actually believes he is charming. Then we both broke out in laughter. You just can’t make that stuff up!

Looks like Brentwood needs to hire more accurate engineers. Off by 3 million is a lot.

Do your damn jobs! If I was off by that much I would get fired. Taylor and Barr both look like they just rolled out of bed, no wonder they are not on top of things. What a shame, shame, shame!
