Brentwood: Arrest Made After Protester Assaults Police Officer

by ECT

The Brentwood Police Department confirmed Saturday that two arrest have occurred over two days in separate protests which were sparked by a man who hung an effigy, which featured a mannequin hanging from a rope with “Sleepy Joe (Cheater)” on a cardboard sign across the mannequin’s chest.

Fridays protest resulted in several businesses boring up their windows in anticipation that the protest may get out of hand. Police said one protester was arrested Friday after assaulting an officer while on Thursday, a protester was arrested for kicking a vehicle.

When the man first hung the mannequin, it prompted a response from police just after 8:00 am Thursday to the home on Craig Ct to investigate the mannequin hanging from the roof.

Per police, the mannequin was clothed and displayed a black ball cap, covering the mannequin’s face, a long-sleeved shirt, and denim blue jeans. A cardboard sign was across the chest of the mannequin and read “Sleepy Joe (Cheater)”.

Brentwood officers spoke with the homeowner who agreed to take the mannequin down.

The Brentwood Police Department consulted with the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office showing them the photograph of the mannequin displayed at the residence. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that this act was not criminal, further stating offensive expression is protected under the First Amendment.

After Thursday’s protest, the homeowners home was egged and graffiti with anti-Donald Trump language.

Friday’s protest took place at Oak Street and Second Street where protesters marched to the home on Craig Ct where they were met by police.  At one point, police broke up the protest where as the crowd was dispersing, several protesters fell to the ground before returning back to downtown Brentwood.

Police have acknowledged people have the right to protest and urge the protests to stay peaceful.

Why would I leave California? I mean liberals, like you, are pretty sh*tty but they don’t bother me that much, only when they riot and destroy others property is when I have a problem. And who even said I was a conservative? Lmao you democrats preach inclusiveness but attack anyone with different views. Complete hypocrites.

Biden/Harris country? I wouldn’t be so sure. Arizona has not yet country over 45,000 ballots, Georgia is doing a hand count on those already done and starting out on those not yet counted. We shall see whose country this will be.

You forgot to mention they smashed the windows out of his vehicle. You make it sound so innocent. Eggs and graffiti.

If I were the resident of that house, I would anticipate what these morons would do and have friends over for an “egg” party — return the favor as those jerks throw those eggs. I’d also spray them with a dye which won’t wash off for weeks.

Yes, people can protest, but they can’t destroy other people’s property without consequences! The police should have arrested this bunch of trespassers
