Brentwood Protesters Graffiti, Egg Donald Trump Supporter Home

by ECT

In Brentwood, a home that displayed American flags, Donald Trump signs and a hanging mannequin depicting Joe Biden with the name “Sleepy Joe” from his roof in a noose prompted protesters to respond Thursday afternoon.

The incident, earlier in the day prompted a response from Brentwood Police just after 8:00 am Thursday to the home on Craig Ct to investigate the mannequin hanging from the roof.

Per police, the mannequin was clothed and displayed a black ball cap, covering the mannequin’s face, a long-sleeved shirt, and denim blue jeans. A cardboard sign was across the chest of the mannequin and read “Sleepy Joe (Cheater)”.

Brentwood officers spoke with the homeowner who agreed to take the mannequin down.

The mannequin was photographed by police and a police report was generated documenting the incident. The Brentwood Police Department consulted with the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office showing them the photograph of the mannequin displayed at the residence. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that this act was not criminal, further stating offensive expression is protected under the First Amendment.

The Brentwood Police Department’s investigation into this matter will be forwarded to the United States Secret Service for their review.

Homeowner Eric Harvey took to social media to describe what happened.

In a social-media post Thursday, the homeowner, Eric Harvey, filmed himself driving to take the mannequin down. He decried what he saw as cheating in the election’s wake before describing why he did it.

“I had a dummy from Halloween that was hanging by a noose, so I made a cardboard sign and put it around its neck that said ‘Sleepy Joe, cheater’ and I hung it from my second-story roof, This was at 10:30 or 11 last night. I was getting up, getting ready for work and I got a call from  Brentwood PD saying they were officers who were outside needing to talk to me. I go out there and sure enough someone called and wasn’t happy there was a dummy hanging of sleepy Joe. So they told me they couldn’t take it down because its Halloween décor but I said nah, I’ll take it down, its all right.”

He continued saying that he was getting calls from Brentwood police letting him know his dummy was going “viral”. He then proceeded to call those on the left “a bunch of butthurt idiots”.

Thursday evening, protesters ultimately promoted the Brentwood Police and city workers to shutdown a portion of Garin Parkway as protesters took to the street. The protest remained mostly peaceful with police escorting at least one man from the area.

The graffiti and egging of the home happened after 11:00 pm when the protest was over.

It is anticipated that a march will occur Friday afternoon beginning at 4:00 pm at Brentwood City Park to Garin Parkway.

Nice display of behavior from the “tolerant” left. Applause for beheadings of Trump displays, but outrage for hanging Biden display. Such Hippocrates.

The behavior of all involved is disgraceful – including the homeowner, who did it for the purpose of provoking others (regardless of pious words about “free speech”).
