Brentwood: After Near Drowning, Child Transported to Local Hospital

At 8:15 pm Monday, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded to a report of a child who reportedly drowned in a pool off Central Blvd and Deer Creek in the City of Brentwood.

It was reported that the parent of the child began driving off with the child before being stopped by Brentwood Police. Brentwood Police was with the child where they reported they were breathing and semi-alert.

A medical helicopter was requested and was landing at Bristow Middle School, however, by 8:32 pm, AMR opted to ground transport the child to a local hospital.

No further information was available.

Why did the police need to get involved with the parents decision to drive the child to the hospital? Is that not allowed anymore?
