A two vehicle accident on Marsh Creek Road and Walnut at 1:09 pm shut down the roadway after the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District requested two medical helicopters.
Prior to arrival, firefighters received a report that a person was trapped and was not responsive. Upon arrival, Battalion Chief 5 reported multiple patients including children were involved and requested a second medical helicopter.
By 1:22 pm, Battalion Chief 5 requested its third fire engine as well as another AMR unit. They confirmed they were shutting down the roadway with two patients needing to be air transported to local hospitals with one patient being a ground transport.
By 2:50 pm, the roadway was re-opened.
