SACRAMENTO – Statement from Assemblywoman Susan A. Bonilla (D-Concord) on the Legislature’s approval of The Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014.

“I thank my colleagues of the legislature for their relentless efforts in reaching a fair agreement for both Northern and Southern California on the Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014,” said Assemblywoman Susan A. Bonilla (D-Concord). “Most notably, I applaud the five Delta counties for ensuring that not a single dollar of the $7.5 billion bond can be used towards the construction of the Delta Tunnels.  If approved by voters on the November ballot, this water bond will secure $50 million in first-time funding for the Delta Conservancy for restoration and agricultural sustainability projects.  Additionally, it is guaranteed that no project in the Delta will begin without consulting the local Delta cities and its surrounding communities who will be most affected.  Overall, this bond is tunnel neutral and takes a functional approach to our statewide water crisis, without further damaging our Delta resources.”

Assemblywoman Susan A. Bonilla (D-Concord) was elected in November 2010 and represents California’s 14th Assembly District, which includes Contra Costa County and Solano County.

“Tunnel Neutral” is not good enough by half. This one gets a big thumbs down in November.
